Sky seems to be able to capture emotions perfectly through just a few lighting changes. The Season of Flight quest where the Darkness spreads is a perfect example.
Hidden Forest, sandwiched between the youth of Daylight Prairie and the young adult of Valley of Triumph, is filled with complex emotions, as demonstrated by the spirits who have left their memories there. Up to now, the Season of Flight has felt childlike and whimsical - playing through quests to help the spirits (as we have seen in many other seasons).
I love this turning point emotionally. That gut wrenching emotion of innocence lost: this is suddenly all too real. Things previously magical get a dark twist. They keep their mystery but it's not the same as it once was. Just as in teenage years, complex emotions develop, and we begin to realise that the adults we look up to are just as lost and scared as we are. That doesn't mean it's time to give up, it is the moment we can step up and make a difference.
This has to be one of the most emotionally jarring seasons of all, and I love it all the more for that reason.
